Celebrating Impact: AMG Foundation Receives Generous Donation of Stationery and Books from Text Book Centre

In a heartwarming show of support, the AMG Foundation was honored to receive a generous donation of stationery and books from Textbook Centre, as part of their celebration of 60 years of shaping minds and inspiring learning across Kenya.

The donation was made to our Kibera Community Library, one of the Foundation’s flagship projects aimed at promoting literacy and educational equity in underserved communities. As Textbook Centre marks six decades of impact, they chose to give back by supporting grassroots educational spaces and we’re proud that our community library was among the beneficiaries.

This contribution means more than just books and pens. It represents renewed hope, opportunity, and a shared commitment to transforming lives through education. These materials will go a long way in equipping learners, researchers, and community members who rely on the library for academic support, personal development, and lifelong learning.

We are truly grateful to Textbook Centre for recognizing the value of community-based education. This partnership is a reminder that when businesses and communities come together with purpose, the results are powerful.

A New Chapter for Kibera: AMG Foundation Opens a Community Library

Education is the key to unlocking potential, and at AMG Foundation, we believe that every child, every student, and every dreamer deserves access to knowledge. On a remarkable day in Kibera, we proudly opened the doors to the AMG Foundation Kibera Library, a safe haven for learning, growth, and empowerment.

A Vision Turned Reality

Kibera, one of Kenya’s most vibrant yet underserved communities, is home to countless bright minds eager for opportunities. However, access to quality learning resources remains a challenge. In response to this, AMG Foundation embarked on a mission to bridge the educational gap by creating a space where students can study, read, and explore the world of knowledge freely.

With over 1,900 books and a seating capacity for 32 readers, the Kibera Library is now a place where learners can access textbooks, storybooks, reference materials, and digital resources. This milestone represents not just an investment in infrastructure but a commitment to empowering generations.

A Celebration of Community and Learning

The grand opening was nothing short of inspiring. Community leaders, educators, parents, and eager students gathered to witness the unveiling of this transformative initiative. The atmosphere was filled with joy and hope as children rushed in to explore the bookshelves, flipping through pages that would soon shape their futures.

Speeches from AMG Foundation representatives and local leaders highlighted the importance of education and the collective effort that made this library possible. Their words reinforced a shared belief—knowledge is a right, not a privilege.

Bridging Gaps: Empowering Generations

A Visionary Leader Transforming Education

Andrew Muthee Gitau, Founder and Chairman of AMG Foundation, is a visionary leader who is revolutionizing education in Kenya through his unwavering commitment to accessible learning. Through a combination of his vision and actions, he has provided accessible learning spaces offering free resources that help empower children and families who otherwise lack access to education. This has resulted in the creation of community-based libraries in Githumu, Kagunduini, and Kibera, providing more than 10,000+ free textbooks and learning spaces connected with 36+ computers and learning tablets connected to the internet that bridge educational gaps, particularly for families in the underserved communities unable to afford the CBC curriculum.

A Unique Approach to Accessibility

Andrew’s approach is unique; he places libraries in shopping centers rather than schools, ensuring education is accessible to everyone and not just limited to those who have access to the school libraries within. His personal commitment to service is evident as he opened the third library in Kibera on his birthday which sees a monthly attendance of over 800 students, choosing to give the gift of education rather than receiving presents.

Turning Land Investments Into Learning Opportunities

Through the “A Plot for You, A Library for Them” campaign, Andrew sparked a movement where every purchase of land contributed to providing 5016 books and 85 computers for the libraries, reinforcing his vision of shared prosperity. His initiative has already raised enough for a new library, soon to be unveiled. Additionally, the Githumu and Kagunduini libraries experience an average monthly attendance of 500 students, with these numbers steadily increasing as the libraries continue to positively impact the community.

Beyond Libraries: Scholarships and Mentorship

Beyond libraries, Andrew provides scholarships and mentorship through the AMG Foundation. Last year, he sponsored 11 children from Grace Well Children’s Home, and with his commitment extending beyond academic support, he offers guidance and inspiration to help these children reach their potential, regardless of their background.

A Legacy of Impact and Integrity

His efforts go beyond philanthropy, with integrity and a commitment to action, Andrew’s work continues to shape brighter futures for generations to come.

He is a true role model and fully deserving of The Star Person of the Year Award, leaving an indelible mark on Kenya’s educational landscape.

“Empowering Lives, One Library at a Time.”

Transforming Communities Through Knowledge and Opportunity

At AMG Foundation, our vision extends beyond investments in property—it’s about building communities, creating opportunities, and inspiring lasting change. With deep gratitude and a shared purpose, we are thrilled to announce our latest and most ambitious initiative: the AMG Foundation Library in Majengo, Nanyuki. This is more than just a library; it’s a beacon of hope, a sanctuary for learning, and a testament to the power of collective effort and generosity.

From Plots to Pages: A Campaign of Impact

The success of this library is rooted in our transformative campaign: ‘A Plot for You, a Library for Them.’ This initiative redefined investment, proving that securing your future can also create life-changing opportunities for others. Through this campaign:

  • For every Ksh 100,000 invested, 12 books were added to the library.
  • For every Ksh 500,000 invested, a computer was contributed.

Thanks to the generosity of our customers, these investments turned into pages, screens, and spaces that will educate and empower an entire community. This library stands as a powerful reminder that together, we can build more than homes—we can build a brighter future.

A Community United: Our Heartfelt Gratitude

This achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of individuals and organizations who share our belief in the power of education:

  • Governor Joshua Irungu – for his steadfast leadership and vision for Laikipia’s future.
  • The Pastor of AIC Nanyuki – for providing spiritual guidance and blessings.
  • The Area Chief – for rallying community involvement and championing this cause.
  • The British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) – for their contributions and bringing global recognition to this initiative.
  • The Majengo and Nanyuki Communities – for embracing this project wholeheartedly.

To our partners and every supporter, we express our deepest gratitude. Your belief in our vision has turned this dream into reality.

Empowering the Future: An Invitation to Join Us

This library is a gift to the students eager to learn, the researchers seeking knowledge, and the dreamers ready to soar. It’s a place to explore, innovate, and transform. However, our work is far from done.

We invite local and international donors, partners, and mentors to join us in expanding our impact. Your support can:

  • Help build more libraries in underserved areas.
  • Fund scholarships and mentorship programs for bright but underprivileged students.
  • Provide resources and technology to bridge the digital divide.

Together, we can turn the page to a new chapter of hope, opportunity, and lasting transformation for communities across Kenya.

A Legacy of Impact and Transformation

Let this be the beginning of more. To those yet to invest, know that your support can create ripples of impact far beyond what you imagine. With every contribution, you help write a story of empowerment and change.

Join us—because the journey to transforming communities through knowledge has only just begun.
