Bridging Gaps: Empowering Generations

A Visionary Leader Transforming Education

Andrew Muthee Gitau, Founder and Chairman of AMG Foundation, is a visionary leader who is revolutionizing education in Kenya through his unwavering commitment to accessible learning. Through a combination of his vision and actions, he has provided accessible learning spaces offering free resources that help empower children and families who otherwise lack access to education. This has resulted in the creation of community-based libraries in Githumu, Kagunduini, and Kibera, providing more than 10,000+ free textbooks and learning spaces connected with 36+ computers and learning tablets connected to the internet that bridge educational gaps, particularly for families in the underserved communities unable to afford the CBC curriculum.

A Unique Approach to Accessibility

Andrew’s approach is unique; he places libraries in shopping centers rather than schools, ensuring education is accessible to everyone and not just limited to those who have access to the school libraries within. His personal commitment to service is evident as he opened the third library in Kibera on his birthday which sees a monthly attendance of over 800 students, choosing to give the gift of education rather than receiving presents.

Turning Land Investments Into Learning Opportunities

Through the “A Plot for You, A Library for Them” campaign, Andrew sparked a movement where every purchase of land contributed to providing 5016 books and 85 computers for the libraries, reinforcing his vision of shared prosperity. His initiative has already raised enough for a new library, soon to be unveiled. Additionally, the Githumu and Kagunduini libraries experience an average monthly attendance of 500 students, with these numbers steadily increasing as the libraries continue to positively impact the community.

Beyond Libraries: Scholarships and Mentorship

Beyond libraries, Andrew provides scholarships and mentorship through the AMG Foundation. Last year, he sponsored 11 children from Grace Well Children’s Home, and with his commitment extending beyond academic support, he offers guidance and inspiration to help these children reach their potential, regardless of their background.

A Legacy of Impact and Integrity

His efforts go beyond philanthropy, with integrity and a commitment to action, Andrew’s work continues to shape brighter futures for generations to come.

He is a true role model and fully deserving of The Star Person of the Year Award, leaving an indelible mark on Kenya’s educational landscape.
